Keynote speakers and new panelists announced

Diesel:U:Music Road to Dubai Sound City in association with Sennheiser

Four music-mad judges will form a panel each week. Hailing from publications such as Time Out Dubai, 7DAYS and Dubai 92, as well as respected brands including Diesel, Sennheiser and EMI Arabia, they will pick their favourite two acts each week.

Ian Brown Launch Party

Thursday 1st October saw Mancunian legend Ian Brown played a jubilant gig in Dubai¹s stunning Madinat Arena capping a triumphant launch party for Dubai Sound City.

Playing to a crowd of 3,000 people, the erstwhile Stone Roses frontman took to the stage with a rousing rendition of ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Clearly enjoying the occasion he commended the organisers for putting together the middle-east event before delivering a hit-packed, career spanning set to the ecstatic throng. During a euphoric encore Brown led his band through a second version of current single ‘Stellify’, urging the audience to go home and download the track, quipping "I wouldn't rob it though - not out here like!"

With local anticipation for the music conference and festival already approaching fever pitch, Dubai Sound City is set to leave an indelible mark on the regions music scene.

More Artists Just Announced

Joining the Happy Mondays, Human League, Echo and the Bunnymen, Super Furry Animals and The Wombats at the inaugural Dubai Sound City will be a host of fresh and up-and-coming acts that are starting to make their mark. Joining the line up are the ever effervescent disco-rockers We Have Band and a trio of mercurial Merseysiders Wave Machines, Sound of Guns and Bicycle Thieves. Also heading to the UAE will be South African New Wavers Dirty Skirts and Parlotones, The Courteeners who are gearing up to release the follow up to their top ten album St. Jude, electro king Kissy Sell Out, Scandinavian bands Alphabeat and The Outlandish, the monstrous Automatic, ARIA award winner Gabriella Cilmi future funk from Dan Black and the unyielding grooves of Post War Years.

Artists Just Announced

With Ian Brown already announced as the headliner for the launch party on October 1st, Dubai Sound City, the brand new music business conference and festival are overjoyed to be able to announce that Scouse legends Echo and The Bunnymen are taking the Sound City brand from it’s home in Liverpool across the water to Dubai alongside Happy Mondays, The Human League and over 50 other acts to play at the event’s inaugural 3-day outing. Taking place from November 5th †to 7th 2009 across five venues in the city – Irish Village, Alpha, Chi@ The Lodge, 360 and Le Meridien Village – Dubai Sound City has been established to celebrate and develop the regions burgeoning music scene and industry.
